The 2019 Sheridan Celebrates event will feature the theme, Sheridan Celebrates Tall Tales & True Stories. Both the Childrens and Grand parades, and the festival, will be held the last Saturday in September, the 28th. The Committee reviewed several themes and the chose Sheridan Celebrates Tall Tales & True Stories at the December meeting. Committee members always put a lot of thought into selecting the annual theme considering the needs of parade entrants, exhibitors and sponsors, and most importantly striving to create excitement for attendees.

The Sheridan Celebrates Committee encourages parade entrants and festival attendees to rally around the 2019 theme. Learn about the fantastic tall tale characters and incorporate their traits and exploits into parade entry costuming and construction. Or choose your favorite contemporary hero and pattern an entry after them: think inventors, political leaders, business trailblazers, science innovators, dedicated activists or accomplished athletes. Tara Beiter-Fluhr, Sheridan Celebrates Mayor and Committee Chair, commented, Tall tales thrill us with larger-than-life characters and events. True stories inspire us with what people can achieve in the real world. The 2019 theme gives participants the chance to follow either path to celebrate what is outlandish or what is amazing and true. Plan now so that you are prepared for participation in either, or both, the Childrens and Grand Parade.
