Description:

From Annual Denver Cinco de Mayo Festival Website:

A weekend filled with food, fun and culture, Denver's Cinco de Mayo "Celebrate Culture" Festival puts the spotlight on The Mile High City's vibrant Latino population. With more than 400,000 attendees expected, it's one of Denver's most fun and family-friendly events. Mark your calendar for May 45, 2019.

Cinco de Mayo commemorates the victory of the outnumbered Mexican army over French forces, providing the momentum and national confidence for the Mexican people to drive foreign power from their country. Today, Cinco de Mayo celebrates the tradition of freedom and acknowledges the beauty of Latino culture.

Denver's Cinco de Mayo "Celebrate Culture" Festival is celebrating its 32th anniversary! The event will take place May 45, 2019, in Civic Center Park. It attracts some 400,000 attendees annually and boasts two large stages with live entertainment going from morning until night, featuring Mariachi, Cumba, Salsa, Norteno and many other genres of Latino music and dance.

As you stroll through Civic Center Park, check out vendors displaying Mexican folk art and handcrafted goods. If you've brought your little ones along, be sure to check out the fun and festive Children's Carnival, with hands-on activities, fuzzy animals and rides kids will love.

Food is a big part of Cinco de Mayo, and there will be plenty of it at the Cinco de Mayo Festival. More than 350 vendors will be serving up tacos, enchiladas, burritos and more of the best Colorado Mexican cuisine. Don't miss the annual Green Chili Bowl Cook-Off, a hotly contested competition featuring more than a dozen restaurants vying for the coveted first place prize. Green chili is a Denver culinary staple, so expect these offerings to be the best of the best.

Other events during the festival include a Saturday-morning parade, taco-eating contest, low-rider car show and Chihuahua race.
