Description:

From Leadville Boom Days Website:

Boom Days is always the first full weekend in August. Festival events span three days of fun, food, and recreational activities for the whole family. The weekend begins with a Friday night mini parade followed by the Motorcycle Rodeo.

Throughout the weekend there are historic contests of individual mining skill, the Annual Gun Show sponsored by the Leadville Rod & Gun Club, and the street fair featuring various vendors including artisans, and food only found at such venues. There is also live entertainment throughout the weekend. Breakfast is served on the courthouse lawn on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Saturday is a fun-filled day starting with the popular Boom Days Parade, and followed by the Children's Events at LCHS and other Harrison Avenue activities.

Be sure to pick up a schedule of events at the information booth in front of the court house for more details, times and locations.

Sunday begins with the ever popular and world-famous 21-mile International Pack Burro Race. While the racers are out on the course you will be entertained by special events on Harrison Avenue, including a celebrity burro race, costume events including the "Mosey" contest, along with other activities.

There are tons of things to see and do, come join in on the fun.

By Municipal Ordinance, Boom Days is a dog-free event. Sorry. No dogs allowed in the downtown area on or off a leash. Tickets will be issued to those who do not comply. Leadville does offer some doggie day care options for friendly dogs able to enjoy the company of other dogs. If you have brought your dog, please consider one of these options to ensure you and your dog enjoy your time in Leadville over Boom Days.

This year, and all those to follow, we hope to see you at Leadville Boom Days!

"Leadville Boom Days" is a Colorado Mountain Festival and historical celebration of the Old West, with gunslingers, burro races, contests of mining skill, and a street fair with over 100 food and craft booths. This annual event was selected by Colorado for documentation and preservation by the U.S. Library of Congress as a Local Legacy of national interest.
