Introduction and Allegro appassionato for Piano and Orchestra
Schumann’s Symphony No. 1, “Spring,” is the quintessence of the awakening of not only the spring season but of a young person’s passion.

Saturday, March 15:
Symphony No. 2
Seen against the background of his own pathetic suffering, Schumann’s Second Symphony emerges as a miracle of the human spirit over the most trying circumstances.

Sunday, March 16:

Symphony No. 4
Schumann delighted living in the Rhineland countryside and toyed with calling the second movement of this third symphony “Morning on the Rhine.”
